From the Principal...

Welcome to the Ohoka School website.

Ohoka School and the Ohoka District are rich in history. The school was first opened in 1868 with a roll of 94 students. The roll has steadily climbed and by December 2008 the role will reach 246 students. We cater for students from New Entrants – (5 years old) to Year 8 students – (12 to 13 years old).

Our school has a very dedicated and professional staff that helps maintain the high standards in education and behaviour. Our focus and emphasis over the last few years has been to raise the level of attainment in Numeracy and Literacy.

We will also endeavour to support your child, to gain confidence and to extend themselves so they can try new things and to pursue their dreams. We will work with your child to identify their strengths and the goals that give the skills and values that will be with your child for life.

The school is well maintained and resourced; in 2005 we opened our new Integrated Learning Centre, which is a very modern well-equipped facility for the children and teachers to use. We have large playing fields and a popular adventure playground.

The school enjoys the support of a capable Board of Trustees and a very enthusiastic and active P.T.A.
